I agree with almost everything in this episode, except one point. Because of the racial tensions that have become increasingly worse because of the issues in this episode (police being immune to lawsuits, excessive use of violence leading to death, etc.), both cops and minority individuals have become extremely wary of each other. The result: Black people, to keep themselves safe, have to be anti-cop, not just anti-"bad cop." I can't say I blame them, but the fact that neither side will let their guard down for fear of each other, this tension won't decrease or go away. It's like a cold war, except it's hot and between American civilians and the individuals charged with their protection. Two groups who should be able to rely on each other, not fear the protectors. That's tyrannical. And the oppressed have very little opportunity for recourse, given the layers of insulation cops have around themselves. It's a horrible situation.

There's a principle in mindfulness that applies really well here. "What you practice grows stronger". If you practice violent interventions for over a hundred hours and deescalation for a pittance of time, YOU AREN'T GOING TO DEESCALATE CRAP! And, Violent Tendencies Grow Stronger! It's crippling society.

if you covered the incident in Houston from earlier this year you can see the blantent attempts by the police chief and union president doing the dance and spinning the web of deciept still even with 1 of the many officers involved having been charged with murder and another with tampering...sad to say these are the times we live in with the police constantly with the thin blue line and blue lives hashtags on everything they post on social media others go as far as putting #bluelinegang the word gang which goes to reflect the attitude they have that their blue line propetuates the us vs. them climate out there great show looking forward to seeing more like it

Police brutality? Well, don't piss off anyone that works seventy hour weeks, has bills up-the-ass to pay, and on top-of-that...three separate alimony payments and six child support payments. Keep-your hands outta your pockets. Keep your hands on the steering wheel. Record, if ya want. Don't be smokin pot in the vehicle(that's just ignorance). And most importantly...Have a good attitude. And don't argue. Save that for the Judge & your lawyer (or, as usual...your taxpayer appointed lawyer).

Hasan & Team, could you please do an episode about how FRreporter and Instagram allow underage girls to be sexually exploited. Danielle Cohn, please look her up. She's 13 years old, but her mom lies and claims she's 15, which still isn't better. Check her IG. Reporting the account to IG doesn't do anything even though it's explicitly against their ToS. She's not the only one. A lot of kids are getting trapped into this and it's really their parents. We need a bigger voice to address this and bring awareness. Children are being used for sexual exploitation on IG and YT and they're not doing anything about it.

This reminds me of refereeing, unlike in baseball, unless you have VAR you can't undo a call. Also we are always right. After you make a call you can't talk to your ars to make sure you did it right. Soccor refereeing is based on protecting us rather than the integrity of the game. We are not supposed to rain admit we made a mistake, we are trained that it makes us look weak and undermines thier trust of us.

In airline pilot training a significant part of flight simulator training is to respond to problems, SOME of which require the pilot to take drastic measures to call an emergency and land the plane as soon as possible. However in the vast majority of cases the training just involves responding to minor problems that can be diagnosed and fixed in flight without taking drastic measures or diverting the flight. In fact incorrect training that emphasizes to treat all anomalies as an emergency has lead to several major disasters. (most infamous perhaps AA 587 where American Airlines trained its pilots to overcorrect for wake turbulence, even though the manufacturer has repeatedly expressed concern about this training practice. Misdiagnosing a problem as an emergency just creates an emergency by itself.

Pilots need at least 250 flight hours, including 100 hours of pilot-in-command time and 50 hours of cross-country flying. Also, you'll need to get at least 10 hours of instrument training and 10 hours in a complex aircraft....that's a lot of time in the air and not on landings or opening the doors...maybe they need to drop the air time training to 5 hours and focus on the landings

As a European, I'm distrubed. How is every facet of this system so wrong? How did no one notices that fear based policing might be the wrong idea? That cops shouldn't be ready to kill people at every moment? That deescalation is the key to uphold law and order? How come every other country has figured that out but not the US?

I would urge you and your team to consider bringing light to the issues of suicide, physician suicide and exploitation of physicians (just think of the tie into the Asian culture - make the family proud by defending doctors). Another topic often misrepresented is Maternal Mental Health esp considering it from a social perspective - family leave(maternity and paternity) and the concept of how are we raising the next generation if we cant support parents

Information provided on Hassan's show is not new. The facts and information are already out there as head lines, facts and figures. We do read and notice them but being the demure public that we are, we don't acknowledge them. Hassan and his team does a great job of presenting the content in a very interesting and comedic way. I always wondered why he never got into trouble. Truly speaking, once I started to watch and listen closely I realized he just shares the information in a "controversial way" when they are not something taken off of say FBI. Probably the reason why he didn't and won't get into trouble. This is not a criticism. I really enjoy his show!

People on both extremes of this issue just auto condemn the other side and assume they are guilty. Minority gets abused or killed by corrupt cop... cop is defended - some know better while others don't. On other side, cop gets severely injured or killed trying to "give the suspect the benefit of the doubt". Or they get socially destroyed for pulling a gun on an unarmed suspect and it's even on film. But the part the news and public don't cover is that the suspect refused to cooperate, the officer was told that the suspect is probably armed, and the suspect (or person matching said description who isn't cooperating so that their innocence can be quickly determined) has a history of violence against officers. And thus unnecessary violence happens to both sides - reinforcing and coloring people's perceptions. This continues the history of neither side in general wanting to trust the other and continues to see decent people on both sides caught in the cross fire and paying the price. The price caused by people on both sides who go to the extreme.

The professor in the interview claimed the US police was the best trained in the world! This is only a joke, Professor? On US average, the training there lasts 19 weeks. That is ridiculous. What do you want to learn in this short time? Come to Germany Professor. The cops in Germany have to undergo a thorough psychological, health and sports examination. They are tested in German and English and mathematics as well as general education. Only when they have passed all the tests are they allowed to go to the police school and are trained there for 3 years. Think again, professor!

There are a lot of conflicting things Hasan is saying, I understand because he wants to add comedy to a very serious issue but still conflicts his points. The stuff cops have to deal everyday to keep us all safe is something that you won't even believe happens. They train more in weapons because they need to be precise with it, they need weapons training so when they need to shoot a dog, it won't hit a kid. Also why cops are immune to being sued is because like Hasan said, americans like to sue everybody, there will be a lot of good cops that will be falsely sued if you let cops be sued. I think Cops becomes bad because of what they've been through being a cop. And cop jobs are not really on top of the list of many americans, if you take out their immunity I think we would have a bigger problem with crime because of lesser cops.

People forget that the police have no right to protect you. There have been a few court cases regarding this, including a Supreme Court case. The origin of police forces in the US begins with protecting slaveowner property - the slaves themselves, which meant hunting down those slaves if they were trying to gain autonomy and not be considered property and 3/5ths of a human being. Even now, property rights are imperative for cops, not human rights. It's basically a mirroring of this capitalist hellscape we live in, where corporations have more human rights than actual humans. Wish Minhaj would've touched on that point

One such issue right now is the brutal way India has incarcerated an entire valley of kashmir with 8 million people. India is using it's naked military might and state machinery to suppress the basic human rights of Kashmiris. I request you in sprit of great empowering work you doing to do an episode on current crisis in kashmir. Arabs and people like Hasan were often considered "white" in America because of the Caucasian label (which included more than peoples of Europe). Sometimes mixed blacks tried to avoid segregation and legal racial oppression against blacks by claiming to be of Arab descent just to avoid being lumped into the black category. And it often worked. People like Hasan, or as the law said (Turks and Moors) could not legally be enslaved back in the 1700's, they could legally marry other whites, did not face segregation laws, did not have to go to separate schools, could receive more loans and could join many worker unions which were restricted to whites only.
