These living robots seem promising, but oh so terrifying. It would be great if they could clean out clogged arteries, but like everything else, it could be put to do either good or evil. When they are so small, someone could basically put one in you without you knowing, and then it would start messing with your heart or move things around in your brain.. I'm not too sure if I want these around at all..

This sounds like a big step toward something like cryostasis for space travel. Not actual cryostasis but something similar where a coma is induced, extra sestrins are produced, some way to maintain bone density (maybe just a constant acceleration?), and a severely decreased metabolism. I think the last thing would be some way to prevent aging, though idk how feasible that is. Either way, something like this would be cool for getting astronauts to Europa without them being awake for however many years it takes.

yoooo okay, these people did what with cells???? The entirety of what has been accomplished so far with cell based manipulation is essentially the starting gun. Humans will never be the same because of the far future implications of what has been started. Just try to picture what the super advanced versions of cell based "robots" will look like in 20 years? Holy CRAP, I almost don't want to. It will probably not be long before we use this technology to do the extra sci-fi stuff, like utility fog or organic computers connected underground, controlled telepathically, super internet, all of it. Cells, proteins, and weather have made the planet what it is today. Now here we are, just starting to grasp some serious control.

One possible concern with adding Sestrins to humans may be the build up of muscle tissue where it would be less than ideal. For instance, do you really want your intestines to get swole? I think there could be a real risk of digestive problems. Swole stomach? Stomach acid splashing all the way up your oesophagus like some kind of hyper acid reflux.

    WHATISF3ARIl y a mois

Anyone else think they used the wrong headline for the video name? Like which one sounds more ground breaking? "This just in, flies are strong." Or "We have done it! Microscopic robots made out of living tissue that will change the face of medical science and drastically improve the overall health of our planet! And the best part is, we actually made them!" Lol maybe lead with the big story next time :)
