Thanks for watching everyone! Lots of pothole fans, this is great! I try not to have a negative vibe in my videos, but I think some frustration probably shined through in my tone on this one. Hope everyone is having a wonderful, pothole-free day! If you want to experience expensive potholes - Tesla Referral Program: ts.la/jason66047

Tesla makes great cars but their decision to forego working with dealerships, stock adequate quantities of replacement parts, and invest in building a professional customer support system is a cause for concern. While fortunate to have found the parts to be in stock, you are very far from the only person to have experienced issues with repairs. Communication breakdowns within Tesla seem to be common. Long waits for parts and repairs, incorrect information from Tesla customer service reps, and failure to follow through on promised actions have become common themes of FRreporter videos made by Telsa *fans* I love much about Tesla but there is more to being a car company than making a great car. In order for the company to grow to be a true mass market OEM it must be able to support the products it has in the field.

Yea it came through, but it’s understandable. The thing is you’re mad about a sport version of your car coming with bigger brakes/wheels? If that’s what offers the better performance then don’t buy the sport model. Also if you drive a vehicle with low profile tires, or a lowered car, you have to change your driving habits. Watch out for potholes more and be more cautious if bumps or extreme driveways etc. Obviously accidents happen though and I’m sorry you experienced this!

Its not easy to have a positive vibe with 2 broken tyres and a wheel Does the insures cant cover it ? In belgium whe have omium it covers every damage that is your fault or someone else or even natures fault like a storm And is it not possible to put some 19 or 18 inch wheels with bigger tyres ? Thats what i would do

Hello Mr. Fenske, my name is Michael Rivera. I sent you a message on Facebook I'm trying to get a hold of you. I'm working on building the worlds fastest supercar but I'm in the very early stages. I'm trying to come up with costs for everything before talking to an investor. I would just like to see if you would like to become apart of my engineering team when I start building my prototype.

Its a design thing. They make 18's that fit over the Model 3 performance. Its also a design thing to make a wheel so wide, but also gives the wheel very little lip protection. For pot holes, width can possibly make you flot over, but that low profile tire has no where to deform to.

hit a pothole on my model 3, the rim took no damage but the tire formed a bubble in the sidewall. Had the 19 inch wheels so a new tire + installation costed me $380.

So i hit a pothole so big that both headlights died within 2 minutes from hitting it... The one on the side of the hole died on the spot and the other very soon after. 15" wheels with large tyres on them... 2 bent wheels, luckily no punctured tyres. Oh, the front bumper and the bonnet lock got damaged as well. The car was Ford focus 1.6 CDTI combi.

Nailed it in the first minute. I'm with you and don't like the huge wheels with tiny sidewall heights. Would be interesting to see a study on fuel efficiency losses and acceleration time increases vs. smaller wheels with taller sidewalls.

if other cars didn't get a busted wheel from running over a pothole do you think just maybe it might be the manufacturer's fault? stop bending backwards where tesla is concerned.

Check out Tsportline (or some other aftermarket place) re aftermarket wheels. You can get 18 inch wheels that will fit on your car with the performance brakes. I have the same car (P3D) and I also hit a pot hole and damaged two of my rims. I purchased a new set of 19 inch rims with tires for less than you paid for your two tires. As a plus, the new wheels are lighter with thicker tires, therefore I now get better range and a smoother ride.

In the UK you can claim off the local council for them to pay for the damage and it works, plus you can get insurance for things like this for a little as $12 a month so.............invalid video?

Low profile tires are one of my consistent gripes. They are aesthetic and almost always on the top tier and top trim cars. I often search for the smaller rims on my vehicles. As you stated, they cost more, they absorb less shock and the performance gains are relatively minimal. In autocross you often deflated tires for more grip. Cannot do that with low profile tires or run flats which are also a waste of money. Looking at the rim it looks like a very light alloy which did not help. I would like a campaign with auto manufacturers to offer smaller wheel size whenever possible. A car the size and weight of that Tesla needs far more shock absorption, especially with pricey rims. A 20in wheel is something for a large SUV and frankly if you off road you won't want them, either. Sorry for the loss and aggravation. The biggest surprise is they don't readily stock the standard size wheel for your car!?! Not much of a service center and this has to be a common problem.

HI ITS DOWN TO LIKE U SAY HEAVY PERFORMANCE ORIENTED VEHICLE ON WHAT BOILS DOWN TO ROADWAY WITH HEAVY COMMERCIAL ROAD TRAFFIC ADJUST YOUR DRIVING I DO NOT HIT POTHOLES AND I AM A HEAVY VEHICLE OPERATOR RETIRED PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD AHEAD OR MAYBE GET A DIFFERENT SET OF RIMS FOR HIGHWAY TRAVEL OTHER THAN THAT IF U WERE DRIVING A BUGATTI AND SAME SCENARIO PROBABLY MUCH HIGHER COST. ALSO IF ANY OTHER VEHICLES HIT THAT SAME POTHOLE AT SPEED THEY ALSO WOULD HAVE SUFFERED SIMILAR DAMAGE I KNOW THIS RANT PROB MAKES U FEEL BETTER BUT REALLY IT COMES OFF AS SOUR GRAPES JUST DRIVE CAREFULLY AND ENJOY YOUR FANTASTIC VEHICLE

I agree with you, I mean wheel get too big. 20 inch on a car is ludicrous. for the size of the car 18 inch would be sufficient with a like a 50 profile. Also pothole are not always easy to see, it will happen to anyone at one point. I hit a pretty bad pothole 2 week ago and I'm happy that my small 195-50-16 wheel and my steering where not affected, but it hit pretty hard. I was lucky. My car being around 1150 ( around 2500 Lbs) of mass also helps. but still. My friends hit a Pot hole in they Ion IQ on the highway and got the wheel bent very baldy, they came close to crash the car on the small wall on the side of the highway.
