I think there’s a point of saying something would look nice over what you should do tbh I’ve had people mostly my Nan tell me what my hair should be and personally it’s not ok. When I was younger I had to have my hair a certain length for my dancing so in performances we’d all look the same. Long hair never suited me mines like Cristine’s where it’s dark and thin and it always took hours before i. Was happy with it or I just put it up. As soon as I left I got my hair into a just above the shoulder cut with a side fringe. Tbh the fringe was my best decision it suite me but it still took allot to make me like the rest so again I was still putting it up. Magic happened when I went drastic wasn’t perfect but I when for frankie from the Saturdays hair still took work but it’s felt grown up and i didn’t hate my hair which was great did get bored after awhile so I let it grow back to the bob and kept it that way for years. I now cut my hair with clippers after I’d been doing my dad’s awhile. I’d got back to the point of headscarves and pony tails and just went screw it I was happier shorter. Yes my first cut was professional we went the shortest I’d ever gone and I just let it grow till I was happy with it. It now looks similar to his at its longest then I go back to my fluffy slightly too short hair every month or two. I personally don’t mind the cycle of dealing with slightly too short and then slightly too long hair and I often get people surprised when I say I did it myself because it looks so smart and professional apparently. Idk cutting my hair gives me the freedom of if it goes wrong I can only blame myself rather than sitting there feeling awful and paying for someone else to screw up my hair. Everyone gets those cuts that they go home and cry cause some maniac with scissors ruined it it happens and I know like 90% of cuts are wonderful and I’m not saying you professionals aren’t great I just prefer being master of my own destiny. Nan still tells me my hair should be something else. And suggestions are always nice but my hair should be what’re makes me feel most confident so I prefer it could be nice ifs rather than it should be this. Everyone is so judgy if cristine wants to have skipping rope hair then she should be able to rock It without comments.

I had hair that long and went in asking the stylist to bevel it, which I had done for years to give me a little bit more thickness and some long layers. She literally cut 16 inches of hair off. When she asked me which side I parted it, I said center, she's like that's too harsh for your face, you need to part it to the left or the right, then argued with me when I told her no, I part it in the center, that's my preference. Then asked if I use product, I told her no, I'm a wash and dry, maybe a little leave-in conditioner in the summer. She styles it on the part, without telling me. Then styles it with a ton of hair spray and root lifter. Again something I didn't want. All while talking to me about how she hates long hair, and how everyone should have short hair. I saw it and cried. It's taken nearly a year this week to grow it back to where it's a normal length for me. I'm not normally a baby about my hair, but I don't understand why some stylists (not all of them) don't listen to their clients. And no I don't have a fascination with horses. XD
