My first Sheet Rock job was in my Grandmas new house when I was 7 or 8. The sheet-rockers just tacked the sheet-rock up then my grandma gave us grand kids a pinny a nail in nailing the sheet rock the rest of the way. That was good money seeings how candy bars were .05 cents and .10 cents then.

Question why did you not insulate in the ceiling and interior walls? I ask because not for cold/heat reasons but for noise issues. If you are going to have kids up there and in those spaces even if its short term why not add something in there for noise canceling?

I'm not a sheet rock installer, or know much about it. I have done it several times though. Something I noticed you might want to try; cutting a window opening in a full sheet. It's been my experience when there's seams running vertically from the top of a window or door it tends to crack. Last few houses I've thrown sheet rock up I've been taking a full sheet and cutting a notch in for the window opening and haven't had any problems with cracks around the window.

A tiny bit of advice for drywall, Is minimize the number of joints you need to make, it will save you a bunch of time and money while taping, and make things look better as well. For example you cut the two pieces and butted them up to the jam of the door, and installed a piece over the header. What I used to do was just use 2 pieces to go across the whole wall and then cut the door out, so the only joint was above the middle of the door. This also minimizes tearing and cracks in the finish as the house settles in the coming years. The same things goes for windows. Usually I would overlap a sheet a few inches over each side of the window if I needed a header piece. The few dollars that may be saved in sheet rock more than gets eaten up in the extra effort and material cost in taping. Halving the number of joints means half the time and mud needed taping.

I used to inspect insulation installation (QII - Quality Insulation Installation) as a sustainable building inspector and can say you did an outstanding job. The secret to improving the insulation's performance is air sealing and by using the tape at the joints you have greatly increased the insulation's R-value. Great job, guys. BTW, I loved the little back & forth discussion of 12 inches.

Found your videos recently. Love to see your step by step journey in a condensed way, so cool! I've been documenting the growing of our WI Hemp in similar way. Aside from in the moment, It will be awesome someday for you to reflect on these memories too and for your kids. What do you use for capturing the video camera wise? It can be tough to know the happy medium balance while recording for hours on end; regarding daily battery life-span and also total data load on device or end computer.
