I mess around sometimes with boiling salt water because it splatters everywhere. I was a horrible child. Oh, and when I did, I didn’t use a pot or pan, just straight on the burner.

Salt melts in water. Only millennials would be surprised and fascinated by this. Also I can guarantee the salt hasn't been within 1,000 miles of the Himalayas. Probably mined under Lake Erie like any other salt and artificially colored and sold to suckers in Walmart. The pet rock of 2019.

Of dissolving in boiling water wasn't as succesful: 1. You have a finite amount of water instead of an endless running tap. 2. The water in the pan can only absorp salt until it reaches saturation point 3: the water is boiling away, so is doesn't touch the salt after a while... But of course, you already knew ;-)

When a salt solution reaches saturation, salt will no longer dissolve into solution. It looked very much like it stopped dissolving at some point near the end of boiling it

Funny, we have a little Himalayan salt light in the bathroom and over the past almost year it's been in there, the steam from the water from the shower has very slowly made the salt erode and it's crystallizing on the bottom of the salt. So yeah, definitely can be eroded, just takes forever!
