  14. Adam Entrekin

    Adam EntrekinIl y a 3 jours

@Daniel Peat The CPU. My temps were never bad. Plus your cpu won't be heating up much right when your PC starts to boot. I just don't think your b350 will even be compatible with it. Even if you manage to get it to work, you will likely have issues posting.

  15. Daniel Peat

    Daniel PeatIl y a 3 jours

Adam Entrekin is that a problem with the new cpu or overheating?

  16. Adam Entrekin

    Adam EntrekinIl y a 3 jours

That's a disaster waiting to happen. I could barely get my 3700x to post on my msi b450 gaming plus motherboard. My PC would only post 1 out of 4 boots. This is a problem found all over reddit as well, so I am not the only one. I ended up just buying another mobo due to the frustration. You could go with a b450 max motherboard if you want something cheap, since those are designed to be compatible with the ryzen 3000 series. But even then I would make sure you have a good return policy on the motherboard. Ryzen 3000 chips are very finicky with any b450 mobo, so I doubt a b350 would be a good option.

Google actually said they don't care about fixing these bugs anymore because they are highly unlikely to ever be taken advantage of. And if it's good enough for their datacenters and cloud offerings, it's probably fine for gaming. But of course, since they are included in windows with no way to turn them of, it's still relevant for us in terms of performance...I hope he used the latest updates on all the components.

Disappointed to see you still testing with 3200 speed ram Steve. AMD recommend 3660mhz as the optimum and I believe SOME OTHER TESTERS FOUND AS MUCH AS A 54% INCREASE IN FPS AT STOCK SPEEDS from using 3600mhz ram in games testing with a Ryzen 3700X compared to using RAM @ 3200mhz. One such stock speed test here with benchmarks: Given the huge difference Steve, you really need to change your test set up in my opinion as based on the above and some others testers results, you really can't make a fair comparison with Intel on 3200 RAM when there's such huge gains at stock speeds on faster ram as clearly based on these results, the 3200 ram speed is bottle necking the results. As for Ryzen generally, I'm so far failing to see the Hype. I so wanted to buy Ryzen on the claims that it was faster than Intel for gaming. However, it appears in testing that the 9900K is still king and there's very little difference in price between Ryzen and other Intel equivalents now Intel has cut prices, at least using 3200 ram assuming here the other popular testers have also used 3200 in these comparisons. Assuming Intel is still king even after 3600 ram, what is the point of Ryzen other than for AMD to be able to claim to at least be competitive once more? I really can't see any reason to buy it when it's still slower than Intel. Maybe if the Ryzen 3950X outperforms the 9900K and comes in around the price of the current 3700x, ie £329.00 with an AMD price drop, there maybe some reason to buy it. Maybe if re-testing with 3600 RAM puts Ryzen ahead, then maybe there's a reason to buy it. Until then, I've scrapped my AMD upgrades plans and start to re-plan around the Intel 9900K.

Whoa wait, The two Zen 2 chips are struggling against a stock 8700k Coffee Lake chip with a dated microarchitecture? A few of the tests they were getting beat by the i5. No wonder Intel is pussy-footing around. When Intel does decide to drop Sunny Cove, AMD is going to be back to the drawing board at this rate. I was hoping for a stronger performer. Brand new architecture on 7nm what the hell is going on?

I looked at about 20 reviews, tests, and cannot make up my mind. I really don't know if is from me or the system issues , but the 3700x has some thermal issues. First thing first no software to check CPU'S temperature has been updated for AMD ryzen processors only the bios has the ability but the problem is that the CPU temp, goes crazy, from 36 to 45 in 2 seconds, then drops back to 36. It changes every 1 sec, 36 ---> 40 , 40----->33...etc is a bug or came ? I put thermal grizzly High end thermal paste , and having noctua NH-15 SE AMD AM4 , pretty much a big cooler

  58. Frostyrice

    FrostyriceIl y a 20 jours

There's something on Reddit saying that a certain cpu temp software "boosts" the cpu every few seconds to check temperatures causing incorrect readings or something like that. I didn't read it thoroughly but you should look into that. The end of the post gave an alternative cpu temp monitoring software.

I understand that, but after the bulk of the consumers have purchased the budget oriented 3700X and a considerable percentage will have bought the 3800/3900 CPUs, AMD knows the 3950 will only be a good sell if they keep a good price to begin with. A BF discount might be the last push to a specidic consumer that would otherwise just WAIT for a later update in 1 or 2 years. Who knows what Intel might offer then. If AMD sell their 3950X for a better price than the one to be expected, I might buy one, especially if they capitalize on the 1st 16 core gaming CPU thing. Otherwise I might just skip and postpone na upgrade. Intel would be too dumb NOT to take drastic measures next year and I might change my mind by then... @Howard Murphy

So I want to go from a 7700k to a 3700x which means I have to get a new motherboard. Most of the motherboards say I’d need to update BIOS to use 3rd gen. Had this issue when I first built my pc and had to buy a 6th gen i5 just to update my motherboard and return it. Is there a way to update bios without having a cpu? I don’t want to go through the hassle of buying a 2nd or 1st gen just to update my BIOs to use the 3700x.

Don't know if you guys read the comments here, but just a quick feedback on the review. Please change the gridlines in your graphs to something more meaningful and easier to read. In the frequency test in the beginning, a gap of 460 makes no sense and isn't even a possible frequency for the CPU. It would be better to have the gridlines at, say, 500MHz intervals. Or 400 if you want them closer, as long as it's a multiple of 100.

I think people forgot what the "x" in chip names mean. Basically it means all core overclocked from the factory with a good chip. That is why there is little head room. Take the 2700 and the 2700x for example. 2700 is 3.2 GHz with a 65 tdp. 2700x is a 3.7 GHz with a 95 tdp. If you overclock your 2700 to match the 2700x base clock you almost get the same amount of powerdraw and performance. With these X chips AMD just did the work for you. Not fun for people who like to tinker but it's nice for those who don't.

In fact their prices stay steady over the years and when you'll wanna sell it later for example, you'll get a good price out of it. I guess I should've waited... I got the 3800x in a MEG ACE mobo, with the rx 5700xt , and 32gb of 3600mhz ram. I'm using the 1tb 970 Evo Plus m.2. I can only get the ram to run at 3400mhz, but other than that it seems fine. Oh well, I'll wait before I blow a bunch of money next time

I chose the 3700x for audio production (Cubase, which does utilize multi core and HP), and gaming. Figured it was a good middle ground/bang for buck CPU.

to me, (just my opinion.) the R5 3600 and the 3900x are justifyable buys. One for Budget gaming, the other for Budget content creation. To me. 2-8 frames per second more in a game that runs at over 120 fps, is just not relevant. Bring those games that run hardly at 1440p 60 fps , then i could consider switching to something in between. (still waiting for 3950X) I dearly want an upgrade. from my 7600 /1070 combo. the Navi card looks tempting, but i wait for AIB cards with proper cooling. and maybe some Power limits lifted.

I want you to lock yourself in a room for 2 hours and listen to you own video see how terribly boring your sound. It's like someone reading the stockmarket

We know what cpu should we buy. Question what mobo to match it up. Except x570?

A suggestion would be to change the scale of the graphs to better display the fluctuations in frequencies over time. Showing frequencies below 4 GHz is a bit redundant unless the CPU had dips that low. Otherwise great video

Could Gamers Nexus please look into a new issue of the new Ryzen 3700x/3800x CPUs running way to hot? Nothing new that AMD over volts both their GPUs and CPUs, but the Zen 2's seem to not be transferring the heat from the internal chiplets to the Lid for cooling. Something that cannot be resolved by an under volt.
