Saw it last night, got a huge problem with it: it made me sympathize with his character! I'm not suppose to have empathy for the joker. The movie failed to produce a single character who's purely good to manifest the evolvement of the evil side of the joker. Joker is pure evil... the ultimate shadow, He sees good ppl as punishable as the bad, all i saw was abusive, manipulative, scumbags getting punished which is relatable ( not in the extremely)... it's just absurd!

There’s a round table on the Hollywood Reporter where Will talks about the story he got offered Django Unchained and he refused it because he wanted to change the script and have Django be more of a “hero type character”. Not surprised if he would have rewritten Gemini Man around the red table with Jada. 🤦🏽‍♂️

I really enjoy your channel, content, etc., Chris. In fact, I've really been inspired by you, especially lately with one particular recent vid on how you started, to now. You touched my very soul on that one. However, with this here movie...not sure what you enjoyed so much with it. It wasn't bad, no. And there was one slightly chilling moment. BUt I think I was thinking it was going to be a scarier sort of thing, but really it was just like watching a news documentary only. The plot was interesting, yes, acting was like you said, pretty darn amazing. I mean, it did seem real. But just not...anything terrifying, thrilling, or whatever. Were my expecations wrong on this one?

As far as the Darth Vader funeral, there wouldn't have really been an option for anyone else to show up to the pyre. Luke took care of it out in the woods while he was still alone after escaping the Death Star. This is pretty obvious, given how he walks back into the Ewok VIlliage during the seriously not at all cheesy yub nub dance party and is greeted like this is the first time they're seeing him back on Endor. Odd you didn't mention it, but I always thought it was funny.... Hey I'm just a palace guard, nope, nobody else other than that...juuuust walking along behind these guys while they haul off Chewbacca...aaaaand LET ME JUST SLIP MY MASK DOWN A BIT FOR NO REASON IN A CROWDED ROOM WHERE IT'S TOTALLY NOT RISKY TO EXPOSE MY FACE AND BE IDENTIFIED AS AN ALLY OF HAN SOLO. All it was missing was wink to the camera. :D

It's funny that he criticices that the wedding scene drags on, because that's exactly how Chinese weddings are for me. Many, many speeches, karaoke until you get drunk and then everything ends quickly. So I think with this cultural knowledge, it's a stronger scene not a weaker one.

I read the last scene or two differently. Throughout the first two acts, his laughing was a 'condition'. Near the start of the third act, he recognises that his laughing is actually a part of him. It is part of who he is... You might notice that the laughter in the last scene is slightly different than previous scenes. He now gets the joke, that his subconscious has been physically manifesting all this time. For once, his conscious and subconscious are aligned in his new persona as the Joker. The character arc is complete. This is his new steady-state, as The Joker. Anyone else read it this way?

Mannnn... I wish the joker would have been a little more creative. Like when he gets called up to the murray show. He's at the club taking notes. He knows how to write a joke. He could have been funny on purpose for the people during the show even if it's not his style of comedy showing his genious...then take a dark turn using his style . Make it personal for murray. Like use something from Murray's past that is messed up and then joke about it, making it awkwardly funny before he blows his mind on set and go out with a bang. To me there was no defining moment that made him "the joker"

I was always waiting for something to happen and escalate but it never really did. The acting is masterclass though, as is the score and the filming itself. I'm not sure whether I like it or not. Its It's definitely a bit exhausting to watch because it's constantly down, sad and grim and doesn't give you many breaks. Need some time before I'll rewatch it.
